Ulster Graded League
On Saturday 13th January 2024 saw the end the 2023/24 season for the Ulster Graded League. This season was the first year of the Ulster Graded League which saw the beginning of a new league for players graded D and below. Each team match consisted of 1 Men’s Doubles, 1 Women’s Doubles and 2 Mixed Doubles. The league started on Saturday 21st October 2023 and after 3 rounds of matches which took place in Monaghan, Omagh and was concluded with the last round of matches taking place at Strathearn School, Belfast.
The competition comprised of teams from Raphoe, Alpha, Stradone, Bailieborough, Aghdrumsee and Kilmore and Drumsnastt. The competition was run by Ulster Badminton with the support of the clubs.
The competition was won by Raphoe B closely followed by Raphoe A and Stradone the league was extremely competitive all season and all players and coaches deserve huge credit for their commitment and ensuring the league was a success.
This venture was started with the aim of providing more competitive playing opportunities for clubs and their players. We are delighted with the success of the league in the first year and are keen to build on this success and to attract a number of new clubs and grow the league over the next few years.
Plans for the 2024/25 season will begin over the coming months and we are keen to hear from clubs from across Ulster that would be keen to get involved.
