    Leinster U15 & U19 Open


    U19 player Matthew Cheung & U15 Player Jeffery Rong had a fantastic U15 & U19 Leinster Open winning 3 title each.

    U15 Leinster Open
    The U15 Event in the boys singles, Boys doubles and Mixed doubles proved to be mainly all Ulster Affairs with Jeffery Rong & Corey Chambers reaching the finals of all 3 events with their respective partners. 
    Jeffery was top seed for the Boys singles and 3 solid wins took him to the final to face fellow Ulster player Corey Chambers. Jeffery maintain his good form in the final to win 21-12, 12-12. A good singles event for both the players and for Corey to reach a final in his first year in the age group. 
    In the Boys doubles Corey partnered Charan Deep Rajulapati and were seeded 2 for the event. They had 2 comfortable wins in the early rounds to progress to the final to play the top seeds of Jeffery Rong & Robert Cowman. Again it was the top seeds who took control of the final to win 21-12, 21-10 & Jeffery's second title of the day.   
    Jeffery & partner Amira Pender were seeded 2 for the Mixed doubles event and secured 3 good wins in straight sets to reach the final. Corey &  partner Hannah Shochan were unseeded for the event and came through 3 tough rounds including a 3 set match in the first round and a win over the top seeds to reach the final. It was the 2nd seeds who proved a bit to strong and took the title 21-13, 21-10.

    Overall a Great event for Jeffery Rong to win 3 titles and also Corey Chambers reaching all 3 finals.

    There were some other significant results for Ulster players including Ella Cheung Reaching the Girls singles Semi final losing out to top seed Hanna Shochan. She also reached the Semi Finals of the girls Doubles with her partner 
    Ananya Gopinath but again lost to top seeds Hanna Shochan & Amira Pender. Emily Maxwell & partner Luke Marks had some good wins to reach the Semi Finals of the Mixed Doubles but lost out to eventual winners Jeffery Rong and Amira Pender.

    U19 Leinster Open. 
    Matthew Cheung maintained his great start to 2023 by Winning the Boys singles, Boys Doubles & Mixed doubles at the U19 event.
    Fresh off winning the Ulster Premier Open Singles title Matthew was seeded 2 for the singles event and 3 straight set wins took him to the final to face top seed Pranav Erukattil. Matthew Maintained his high level of play to win 21-12, 21-16. In the Boys Doubles he partnered Dylan Noble and were Top seeds for the event. After a bye in the first round, 2 comfortable wins took them to the final to play Fionn Dowling & Senan O'Rourke. Matthew & Dylan proved too strong and won 21-16, 21-16. 
    In the Mixed event Matthew played with Siofra Flynn and were unseeded for the event. 2 good wins over the 3/4 seeds and 2nd seeds in the quarter Finals & Semi finals respectfully seen them play the Top seeds of Dylan Noble And Ulster's Paige Woods in the Final. Matthew  & Siofra won the open set 21-15 but unfortunately with the score 14-9 the Top seeds had to retire through injury.

    Overall a great event for Matthew to win 3 titles.

    Seeded 2 for the event, Sisters Paige & Chloe Woods had a great first round win against tough opponents 
    Chloe Mcgrane & Michelle Shochan & a walk over in the Semi Final to reach the final of the Girls Doubles. It was an all sister affair in the Final against the Flynn sisters Siofra & Neasa who were top seeds for the event. It was the top seeds who took control of the match to win 21-11, 21-14. A good event for Paige & Chloe with Paige added to her silver medal in the Mixed Doubles. 

    Chloe had a good run in he Mixed Doubles with partner Robbie Frost, reaching the semi finals before losing out to Dylan Noble & Paige Woods. Laura Bell had 2 good wins to reach the Semi finals of the Girls singles but had to pull out in the Semi Final. Rory Comer & partner Karl McLoughlin make the Semi Finals of the Boys Doubles after a great win over the second seeds but lost out in 3 sets to Fionn Dowling & Senan O'Rourke. Ceira Kenndy & partner Sarah Barry reached the Semi Finals of the Girls Doubles with a walk over in the quarter Finals before losing out to the Flynn sisters.
