    2023 Ulster Premier Open


    The Ulster Premier Open 2023 took place at Lisburn Racquets Club on Saturday 7th January with a number of promising performances from Young Irish players.

    Ulster Emerging Performance Squad player Matthew Cheung successful defended his Men's Singles title defeating Dylan Noble in the Final 21-19, 21-13 to make it back to back titles for the 17 year old. A great achievement for the young player.

    The women's Singles title went to another young up & coming Irish player, with 18 year old Sophia Noble winning taking home the title with a comfortable 21-6, 21-8 win in the final against Lucy Fox. 

    The Men's Doubles title wen to the 2nd seeds Declan Bennet & Callum Thomas with a 3 set win, 16-21, 21-10, 21-13 over top seeds Brian O'Mahony & Daniel O'Meara. 

    Lucy Fox and Dijia Ma won the Women's doubles event over the young Ulster pair of Paige & Chloe Woods 21-10, 21-19

    Declan Bennet took home his second title of the event in the mixed Doubles with partner Lauren Au with another tight 3 set match in the final against Nguyen Quang Long & Dijia Ma, 16-21, 21-16, 21-10.

    A number of other ulster players had a great event across all disciplines. U19 player Rory Comer reaching the Semi Finals of the men's singles, with Paige Woods and Laura Bell also reaching the Semi finals of the Women's Singles. The MacBeth brothers, Ryan & Jack had a narrow lose in the semi finals of the Mens Doubles in 3 sets, with Matthew Cheung & Curtis Presho also making the semi finals before losing out to the top seeds.
