    ICL Weekend 1- Senior Team


    The Walsin Ulster Team completed their second weekend of competition in Division One of the English Inter County League losing 7-4 to Leinster but beating Surrey Seconds 11-0.

    It was the first ever meeting between the two Irish Provinces in Division One South and Ulster are in third place in the league just two points behind Leinster and still in contention for the end of season play offs.

    Ulster took an early lead against Leinster winning all three mens singles through Tony Stephenson who beat Mark Brady,Tony Murphy who beat Owen Marron and Stuart Lightbody who beat Neil O’Flaherty. Rachael and Rebecca Woods lost out in two closely contested  women singles and in the first of the mens doubles Ciaran Chambers and Stuart Lightbody beat Mark Brady and Eddie Cousins and in a hard fought second mens doubles Tony Murphy and Tony Stephenson lost out to Dan Magee and Owen Marron 21-19 in the third set.The closely contested womens and mixed doubles matches went to Leinster.

    Ulster are back in Redbridge on March 24/25.’
