    U13 Singles, Doubles & Mixed Titles for Chambers & Blakeman & a U17 Mixed title for Woods


    The U13 & U17 Leinster Open took place at Baldoyle badminton Centre 23-24th April with Ulster taking home Titles & medals across both Age Groups.

    Raphoe's Corey chambers won the U13 Boy's Singles & Boys Doubles with Conor Blakeman. Conor also has a great competition winning the mixed Doubles and Runner up in the Singles to partner Corey, while in the U17 age group Paige Woods won the Mixed Doubles title with Dublin's Dylan Noble.

    U13 Leinster Open
    Top seed for the Boy's Singles, Corey Chambers progressed to the Final with some comfortable wins in the early rounds and a solid 21-15, 21-16 win in the Semi final against 3/4 seed Luke Marks. In the Final he faced the second Seed & Doubles partner Conor Blakeman. Corey got off to a great start and won the opening set 21-16. He took a large lead in the second game, 19-7, unfortunately Conor had to withdraw through injury, but a great performance overall for Corey. In the Boys Doubles Corey & Conor teamed up and were seeded 1 for the event. They had 2 good wins to progress to the final to play the second seeds Luke Marks & Lochlann O'Rourke. It was the 2nd seeds who started strongly and won the first set 21-19. Corey & Connor came back in the second set and took it 21-12 to force a deciding set. The top seeds kept their momentum from the second set and won 21-15 to take the title. 
    Conor took his second Gold of the day in the mixed Doubles with partner Carol Joy. After a great 3 set match in the semi finals against Corey & Hannah Shochan, Conor and Carol proved to strong in the final taking the title 21-12, 21-12.
    Raphoe's Amy Moore & Emily Maxwell had a great run in the Girls Doubles reaching the final. They had an impressive win in the quarter finals against the 2nd Seeds, winning 24-22 in the 3rd set. They faced the top seeds in the final but lost out 21-12, 21-13 to the strong pair. 
    Amy also had some great performances in the girls singles and Mixed Doubles with partner Eoin Evans, reaching the semi Final of both.  Corey Chambers added a bronze medal to his 2 Golds with a run to the Semi Final of the mixed with his partner Hannah Shochan.

    U17 Leinster Open
    Paige Woods and partner Dylan Noble were Top seeds in the Mixed Doubles event and progressed to the final with solid wins in the early rounds and Semi Final. In the Final they faced the Ulster Pair of Rory Comer & Roisin McKenna who also played well to progress to the Final with 2 good wins in the quarter & Semi Finals. It turned out to be a great final with some high quality mixed Doubles play. It was Dylan & Paige who won the opening set 21-16, before Rory & Roisin bounced back to win the second set 21-16. In the deciding set it was extremely close up to the latter stage of the set but it was Paige & Dylan who managed to win the critical points and take the set & title 21-19.  A great final!

    Roisin also had a great Girls Doubles event with partner Chloe McGrane. The pair were seed 2 for the event and reached the final facing the Top seeds, Siofra Flynn & Michelle Shochan. The top seeds came out very strong in the final taking the 1st set 21-9. Roisin & Chloe upped their game in the second set playing some good badminton but came up just short losing out 21-19. 

    There were some other good performances across all the events with Rory comer & Christopher Chee reaching the semi final of the Boys singles losing out to the 2nd & 1st seed respectfully.  Rory & his partner Karl McLoughlin made the Semi Finals of the Boys Doubles, as did Jasmine Buchanna with partner Laura Heery in the Girls Doubles. Paige Woods added a Bronze reaching the Semi finals of the Girls Singles.
