    BWF World Senior Championships

The World Senior championships took place in Huelva, Spain between 28th November- 4th December with a number of Ulster players competing. The stand out result was in the O55 Women's Doubles with Pam Peard & Sian Williams taking home a Silver medal.

With 45 events ranging from over 35 to over 75 there were 1247 players entered which is fantastic to see,  with a strong contingent from Ireland playing across the age groups.

Seeded 2 for the Women's Doubles Over 55, Peard & Wiliams had a convincing run to the Final, winning their early rounds, QF & SF without not dropping a set. In the final they faced the 3/4 Seeds from England Bargh & Miller. Despite winning a close second game 22-20 to force a deciding set,  the Irish Pair lost out 21-16 in the final game, however a great Silver medal improving on their bronze from the previous World Championships.

Former NI Commonwealth Games players Graham Henderson & Mark Topping were seeded 3/5 for the Men's Doubles Over 55 & reached the Quarter Finals but lost out in 3 games to the 5/8 seeds from Thailand.  Mark also had a good run in the Over 55 Singles reaching the 4th round but lost out to the 5/8 seed from France in 3 sets.

Graham & Pam teamed up for the Over 55 mixed Doubles & after a strong win in the 2nd round over Finland, lost out in the next round to England's Bowker & Hammond.

Brian McKee also competed in the Over 65 Men's singles losing out in 3 tough games to Robin Wells from England & the Over 65 Men's Doubles with Traisilpwissarut from Thailand but lost out to the 5/8 seeds from Germany.

Well done to all competed and those who came away with medals.
