    Ulster Senior Team


    The Ulster Senior Team Traveled to Leigh Sports Village, Sale for their first round of matches in the English Senior County Championships 2019-20, Division 1 North on Saturday 9th November and produced some great performances to win their opening 2 matches.

    First match was against Warwickshire 2 at 11am. After the round of both Men's and Women's singles it was very close with Warwickshire taking a slender lead of 3-2, however it could have be Ulster in the lead after Tony Murphy and Matthew Cheung losing narrowly in 3 sets in Men's Singles 1 and Men's Singles 2. The 2 Woods sisters gained the 2 points in their Women's Singles matches after convincing wins.
    Ulster came out strong in the Men's Doubles with Ciaran Chambers and Ryan Stewart winning 1st Men's in 3 sets, 18-21,21-14, 21-15 and Tony Murphy 7 Ryan MacBeth taking 2nd Men's in 2 sets, 21-16, 21-12. 
    Warwickshire came back in the Women's doubles taking 1st Women's and 2nd Women's in 3 sets, making the overall score 5-4 in Warwickshire's favor going into final 2 Mixed Games.
    Ciaran Chambers & Ciara Nelson Leveled the match at 5-5 winning 23-21, 21-14 in 1st Mixed, leaving the 2nd Mixed match to decide the the final score of the Match. Ryan Stewart & Keady Smith were tasked with getting the point for the win and they didn't disappoint winning a 3 setter 21-17 in the final games to get Ulster off to a great start to the day.

    The second match of the day was against Staffordshire and it was a reversal of the morning score after the singles matches with Ulster Leading 3-2, winning 1st Men's Singles, 2nd Men's Singles & 1st Ladies Singles and unfortunately losing out in 3rd Men's Singles in 2 sets and 2nd Girls Singles in 3 very close sets.
    Again Ulster showed their dominance in the Men's Doubles with Ciaran Chambers & Ryan Stewart winning a vert close 1st Men's 21-18, 21-19 and Tony Murphy & Ryan MacBeth winning 2nd Men's in 2 sets 21-14, 21-14, stretching the lead to 5-2 going into the Women's Doubles. 
    Rachael & Rebecca Woods played a great 1st Women's match winning 21-8, 21-10 to secure the over all win in the match. Keady Smith & Ciaran Nelson had a long 3 set match in the 2nd Women's losing out 22-20, 20-22, 15-21. 
    Onto the Mixed and Ciaran Chambers & Ciara Nelson took 1st Mixed 21-19, 21-17 and Ryan Stewart & Keady Smith won a tight 2nd mixed 21-19, 26-24 with Ulster coming out 8-3 winners in the Match.
