    Masters Irish Nationals


    The Masters Irish Nationals were held at Baldoyle Badminton Centre, Dublin on 9th-10th February with Ulster taking home 8 Titles across 8 Age groups.

     Following on from the Walsin Ulster Masters there were a number of re-matches at the Irish Nationals with a few results being reversed.

    Academy Club's Christine Graham & Alpha's Doreen McClements followed on their Ulster Masters win in the Over 60's Women's doubles within another Title at the Irish Masters.

    It was an Ulster 1,2,3 in the Over 50's Men's Singles with Alpha's Brian Moore taking the title with Ballyclare's Michael Turkington claiming the runner up spot and Brian McIlroy (Strean) taking 3rd. Michael Turkington went one better int he Over 40's Men's Doubles with Partner Michael Watt taking top spot.

    Academy Club's Pam Peard won the Women’s Doubles Over 40's with Partner Georgina Ward and took the runner up spot in the Over 55 Mixed with Aubery Cox.

    Alpha's Colin Watterson won the Over 35's Men's Singles with Stephen Morrison (Academy BC) claiming runner up spot.

    There was another 1, 2 finish for Ulster in the Over 50's Men's Doubles with Colin Carmichael & Simon Thompson defeating Mark Dornan & William McMillian

     Clogher Valley's Dorothy McCullough partnered Mark Topping in the Over 45's Mixed to come up top of their group to win Gold, while simon Thompson claimed his second title of the competition winning the Over 50's Mixed Doubles with Partner Heather Harron.

    There were a number of Runner up and 3rd place finished for a lot of Ulster players narrowly missing out on a higher position by a matter of points.
