    Spanish Para International


    A squad of 4 Ulster players travelled to the first tournament of the year after the World championships with Andrew Moorcroft coming away with a Bronze Medal in the Men’s Doubles. The event took place in Mallorca 6-11th March and proved to be a big tournament with 225 players across the world competing in 22 different classifications. Andrew and Scottish partner Bobby Laing achieved his bronze medal coming through his group and progressing to the 4th round of the competition after beating Rachael Chong & Rebecca Bedford 21-12, 21-15. The Hong Kong pair of Chu Man Kai & Wong Chum Yim awaited them in the Semi final and the World Champions proved too strong winning 21-8, 21-8.

    Chris Stewart put in one of his best performances progression from his group in WH1 Men’s singles but lost out to K.Afinogenov (RUS)in the 3rd Round.

    The SS6 Men’s Singles event seen Niall McVeigh 7 andrew Moorcroft both progress from their group and faced each other in the 4th round. Niall’s experience proved to much for Andrew winning 21-10, 21-12. In the Quarter finals Niall played the 2nd Seed Jack Shephard from England and the World champion came out on top 21-18, 21-15.

    Laura Lee Jenkins was competing in the WH1 Ladies Singles & Doubles. The draw within these groups were very strong and did not progress from her groups but had a number of good games.
