Competition Report- October -November 2022
It has been a busy couple months on the competition front with a number of titles and successful performance across the board for Ulster players. From U15 to Masters there has been titles won and great performances. Check out the progress below:
Munster U15 Open- 8-9th October 2022
In the U15 event Ulster players won a Gold, 4 Silvers & 4 Bronze.

Munster U19 Open 8-9th October 2022
In the U19 event Rory Comer won the Mixed Doubles with partner Chloe McGrane. Chloe Woods rook home a silver in the Girls Doubles, with her younger sister Paige taking home a Bronze in the Mixed doubles. Laura Bell also had a good competition reaching the semi finals of the Girls Singles and Girls Doubles to secure 2 Bronze medals.

U13 Irish Nationals- 15th-16th October 2022
A couple of stand out performances from young Ulster players in the U13 Nationals. Corey Chambers won the boys singles against his doubles partner Conor Blakeman, with the pair then winning the Boys Doubles.
BS- Gold- Corey Chambers. Silver-Conor Blakeman
BD- Gold- Corey Chambers & Conor Blakeman
MX- Silver- Corey Chambers & Hannah Shochan. Bronze- Conor Blakeman & Carol Joy and Amy Moore & Eoin Evans.
GD- Bronze- Amy Moore & Emily Maxwell.

U17 Irish Nationals – 15th-16th October 2022.
Paige Woods & partner Dylan Noble won the Mixed Doubles, along with 2 bronze medals in the singles and Girls Doubles. Christopher Chee and Callum Laird played a great final but narrowly missed out on Gold in the Doubles Taking home a silver. Roisin McKenna claimed a silver medal in the Girls singles. Rory Comer reached 2 semi finals in the Boys Singles and the Boys doubles to take 2 bronze medals. Christopher Chee added to his Silver Medal reaching the Semi final of the boys Singles to claim a bronze medal.

Connacht Masters-22nd October 2022
Over a great days badminton there were a number of winners at the Masters events across all the age categories. Steve Morrison, Brian Moore, George Chapman, Pam Peard, & Christine Graham all took home titles in their age category, with a number of runner up and Semi Finalists across the event from Ulster players. Connacht U15 Open 5-6th November 2022
Rhys McAuley had a brilliant tournament taking home all 3 titles, in a very strong competition for Ulster Players. The Boys Singles Semi finals were made up of all Ulster players with Jeffery Rong & Rhys progressing to the final. Rhys teamed up with his brother Zach to win the boys doubles and with Amber Buchanan to win the mixed Doubles. Amber partnered Kimberly Pearson to win the girls doubles, with Ulster players claiming either silver or bronze medals across all disciplines.

Connacht U19 Open 5-6th November 2022
The U19 event was played along the U15 event and there was equally good success for Ulster players across the 5 disciplines. Paige Woods added the mixed title to her U17 National title with partner Aman Kothiyal. While Ulster pair Laura Comer and Chloe Woods had a great win in the Girls Doubles. There were a number of other high placed finishes for Rory Comer, taking a silver in the Boys Doubles and a bronze in the singles & Christopher Chee claiming a silver in the mixed doubles.

Yonex Leinster Masters Open 26-27th November 2022.
Stephen Morrison added to his provincial titles collection by winning the Men’s singles over 40. Johnathan Perry & Jayne Orr won a Gold in the Mixed Doubles Over 45 & Christine Graham adding to her Connacht Mixed title with a win in the Mixed Doubles Over 60 with partner George Joseph. There were a number of other medal placing throughout the age categories. Full results here
Swedish Youth Games U13 & U17- 17th-20th November 2022.
The U13 Irish Team finished second in the Team Event at the Swedish Youth Games and take silver the medals. The team put in one final, brilliant performance against Sweden winning 4-2 to finish in second place overall in the team event. Well done to Ulster players representing the Ireland Team- Corey Chambers, Conor Blakeman & Amy Moore, along with Coach Ciaran Chambers.
The U17 Event had 3 Ulster players representing the Irish Team, Paige Woods, Roisin McKenna & Rory Comer. The players had some great performances and a number of early round wins in the high quality U17 International Circuit event. Michelle Shochan has a great tournament winning the U17 Girls Singles event. Great performance against a high quality field.

Yonex Leinster Open 3-4th December 2022.
In a very strong field, Laura Comber and partner Lucy Fox won a fantastic quarter final against the Ulster pair of Laura Bell and Roisin McKenna to reach the semi Final of the Women’s Doubles. In the semi final Laura and Lucy took the opening set against opponents the Flynn sisters but lost out in 3 sets. Great to see the younger U19 players entering into the Senior Events and performing well.
